Francesca Pedullà
Francesca Pedullà is an artist-curator and pedagogue. She graduated in Genova in History of Theatre and Performing Arts. She holds a diploma as a professor of African Dance Expression at the Centre Artistique 6-éme Parallel - FEIDABordeaux, directed by Koffi Koko.
Since 1998 she has spent several months out of the year living in Benin, West Africa, who's rich culture has been a profound inspiration. She is an active member of The Axis Syllabus Research Community and she holds the certificate to teach the Axis Syllabus, which has become a fundamental aspect of her pedagogical method.
Her artistic pathway define itself around the perception and investigation of individual and collective identity dynamics resulting from cultural encounters. As choreographer and artistic director she develops, since 2005, artistic works and social and cultural cooperation projects both in Europe and Benin (West Africa).Since 2008 she is co-curating the ongoing intercultural project “Dialogues Inévitables” (Cotonou- Bruxelles, Genova, Berlin). Since 2011 she is the artistic director of TRACES – a school for dance and choreographic practice based in Cotonou, Benin, under the auspices of the association Artisttik Benin and the Axis Syllabus Research Community.
Her latest choreographies were presented at Insitute Français de Cotonou, FITHEB (Benin), Teatro della Tosse (Genova), Teatro dell'Archivolto (Italy), TroisC L (Luxembourg), Centre Culturel Cité Culture (Brussels), Festival the Biennale Passage 012 Bielefeld, TFK Berlin , Haus of the Berliner Festspiele (Germany) among others. Currently based in Berlin, she choreographs, performs and teaches throughout Europe, the USA, Canada and Benin.
